Meet Your Dentists

Dr. Susan Chu grew up in a family of dentists and was immersed in the dental field from a young age. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in Biology. She then earned her dental degree from the University of Southern California. After graduation, she practiced dentistry in New Hampshire and California before relocating to the PNW.

Dr. Chu takes pride in her ability to explain complex dental concepts in an easy-to-understand manner and is known for her straightforward and compassionate approach to patient care. She is dedicated to finding the best treatment options specific to each patient’s needs. She takes the time to listen, educate and create treatment plans that prioritize the health and comfort of her patients. She strongly believes in having a collaborative discussion with her patients about their health and not simply dictating what needs to be done.

Dr. Chu is excited to meet you personally and is committed to providing exceptional dental care for many years to come. She takes pride in remembering her patients and treating them as if they were friends and family. Her warm, compassionate approach ensures that each visit is a positive experience.

Beyond the dental chair, Dr. Chu spends most of her free time with her family. She is a mother to two young kids and is usually busy chasing them around the house or the park. She enjoys cooking, baking, and traveling when time allows. She loves animals and has two cats of her own. She is dedicated to continuing her education and staying at the forefront of dental advancements, ensuring that her patients receive the highest level of care possible.

Dr. Jaewon Kim is a board-certified periodontist specializing in treating gum disease, soft / hard tissue grafting and placing implants. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Kyungpook National University, School of Dentistry in South Korea, followed by a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Daegu Fatima Hospital. He acquired a PhD in Oral Anatomy at Yonsei University.

His passion for surgery led him to pursue a residency in Periodontics at the University at Buffalo, NY. Dr. Kim served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. He has published in leading journals such as the Journal of Prosthodontics and the Journal of American Dental Association, and Peer J, and serves as a reviewer for esteemed journals such as Clinical Advances in Periodontics, Journal of Periodontology, and Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research. He is a Diplomate of the Korean, Canadian, and American Board of Periodontics.

He has received numerous accolades and was an Innovations in Periodontics speaker at the AAP meeting in 2024 and 2025.

We are excited to have Dr Kim join our team with a wealth of experience and a passion for excellence.

Dr. Joseph Dutner is a board-certified endodontist with two decades of clinical, educational, and leadership experience in specialty dental care. He currently serves as President of the American Board of Endodontics, the national certifying body for the specialty, a role in which he helps shape the standards of endodontic practice across the country.

Dr. Dutner earned his dental degree from Temple University School of Dentistry and completed his endodontic specialty training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He built a distinguished military career, attaining the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. As the Army Endodontic Consultant to The Surgeon General, he advised on specialty dental policy and standards at the highest levels of military medicine.

Dr. Dutner served as Program Director of the U.S. Army Advanced Dental Education Program in Endodontics at Fort Gordon, Georgia, and he currently serves on the faculty of both the Uniformed Services University and the University of Washington School of Dentistry.

Dr. Dutner knew the Pacific Northwest was calling him after the first time he laid eyes on Mount Rainier through the trees in the forests of Fort Lewis. Over twenty-five years later, he is grateful to now call Washington home with his wife Jackie and their three children.

Dr. Dutner believes exceptional care comes from combining evidence-based treatment with genuine attention to each patient’s comfort and individual needs.
